Regulatory
Government and regulatory issues are one of the greatest threats to the success of independent home medical equipment, rehab and O&P providers. The VGM Group is an industry leader in advocating positions favorable to it members and educating members on the impact of government and regulatory issues. We do this in several ways:
-
DC Link – VGM’s proprietary
portal for access to elected officials, research and breaking news
as it relates to Federal and state issues impacting the industry.
-
Government relations dedicated personnel
– VGM’s VP of Government relations, John Gallagher, has
emerged as a major force in advocating the industry’s positions
in Washington and across America. Gallagher’s aggressive fight
against competitive bidding has earned him the respect of providers,
manufacturers and even the Washington establishment.
-
Grass-root lobbying – VGM launched a nationwide
“grass-roots” lobbying effort in 2002, continuing in 2005, the centerpiece
of which is a campaign to mobilize Medicare beneficiaries and their
families in the fight against competitive bidding. Hundreds of independent
HME and rehab providers have participated in this highly effective
and innovative program.
-
Regulatory education – Understanding and
implementing new regulatory requirements is often a challenge for
providers. VGM provides an array of regulatory support mechanisms
for its members including the regulatory ann compliance expertise
of Mark Higley, VP of Development for VGM. VGM frequently publishes
materials, provides seminars and disseminates information via the
web to help providers deal with the changing regulatory world.
