EXAMINATION CONTENT
The written examination is offered
several times throughout the year in randomly selected locations. The
exam is based on five core knowledge domains; principles of design;
and evolving environmental access practices. Two and a half hours are
allocated for the written exam. To prepare for the examination, you
will be provided with the self-study guide entitled, Core Knowledge in
Environmental Access, subsequent to U.S. Rehab receiving your
application and application fee and determining eligibility.
Examination Domain 1 - The Impact
of Disability and Aging:
Demographics of disability
impacting the home and work environment, aging factors, function and
safety issues.
Examination Domain 2 - The Effects
of National Health Care and Disability Systems:
Legislation, community resources,
roles of health care professionals, and other pertinent systems
factors that directly affect decisions and recommendations by an
environmental access specialist.
Examination Domain 3 -
Environmental Access Concepts and Application
Appropriate communication,
documentation, the role of the environmental access specialist, and
related concepts.
Examination Domain 4 - The
Environmental Access Industry
Benefit systems, pay sources and
cost benefit analysis.
Examination Domain 5 - Legal and
Ethical Responsibilities of the Environmental Access Specialist:
Issues of confidentiality; ethical
conflicts; legal issues and ramifications.
Written Examination
Two-and-a-half-hours are allocated
for 155 multiple choice questions and answers that include core
knowledge questions, design questions and field questions. The core
knowledge questions constitute a set number of multiple choice
questions from each of the 5 core knowledge domains. The field test
questions answered correctly by at least 70% of all test takers in two
continuous exam cycles will be added to the exam core questions
databank. |
