| C.E.A.C. Eligibility
Requirements are outlined in Items #1 - #4 below.
1. Meeting the licensure or
certification criteria. You MUST supply a copy of your license(s)
and/or certifications(s).
1.A.) Category Applicant: Active
License or Certification achieved through written examination
Licensure or Certification is defined as:
Hold an active license or
certification (i.e., NARI Certified Remodeler, OT, RN, CCM, Public
Health Nurse, RESNA, Certified Contractor, Engineer, Architect)
relating to his/her services as a professional environmental
access specialist in the U.S. or its territories. The license or
certification must have been achieved through written examination.
The license or certification
submitted by the applicant must also be free of any prior
suspension or revocation by its regulatory body.
OR
1.B.) Category Applicant:
Competency identified through work experience constituting two years
full-time employment of Environmental Access or related services.
Holds a position, contract(s), or
work experience as an environmental access specialist during the
past two years, AND submits a verification Form 1 (attached) AND a
letter from the employer or contracted services representative on
company letterhead, which validates acceptable employment as a
specialist in environmental access or related experience. The
employer or contracted services representative must indicate
his/her title, and must attach an original signed letter on
company stationary attesting to his/her completion of Form 1. Form
1 shall be submitted by sufficient employers or contracted service
representatives to validate that the applicant has completed a
minimal total of two years full-time employment of Environmental
Access or related services.
Acceptable Employment Experience
or Contracted Services are defined as:
Two years of full-time employment
performing direct environmental access services, directly
supervising those who perform direct environmental access services,
or having work experience in a related field, such as ATS, PT, OT,
case manager, etc.
2. Demonstrated knowledge in
Environmental Access via completion of the “Demonstrated Knowledge in
Environmental Access Form 2”, constituting Part I, Part II, and Part
III (refer to actual application). Parts I-III include:
Part I: A Work Sample of a
wheelchair accessible design
Part II: A Form identifying collaboration with members of an
Environmental Access team
Part III: A Work Sample of performing research into federal
legislation constituting Environmental Access
3. Complete application and all
necessary forms.
The actual C.E.A.C. Application can
be located at (website). Once you have completed the application,
mail it along with a check in the amount of $150.00 to: U.S. Rehab,
1111 W. San Marnan Drive, Waterloo, IA, 50701. All applications are
reviewed by administrative staff, as well as three C.E.A.C.
certified individuals with varied backgrounds. All eligibility
criteria must be met as stated on the application. The application
fee is non-refundable.
4. Achieving a passing score of at
least 70% on the C.E.A.C. written examination.
Note: to prepare yourself for the exam, it is recommended you utilize the Core Knowledge in Environmental Access self-study guide that is sent to you once U.S. Rehab receives your completed application and application fee.
Upon passing of the exam you will be awarded the CEAC credential accompanied with a Certificate of Recognition. U.S. Rehab reserves the right to market the names and contact information of all current CEACs in our electronic database and to various payer sources.
